HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Huntsville residents weighed in on the future of their riverfront. As part of the city's comprehensive master planning initiative, a series of Citizens Academies were scheduled. The first meeting focused on Ditto Landing.

The site currently contains a marina and campground. Federal regulations mean it must remain a recreation-only property. However, there are possibilities of developing adjacent land.

Future topics of Citizens Academies will include neighborhood redevelopment and transportation. There are also plans to utilize focus groups. These groups will also be open to the public but attendees will be asked to sign up in advance. A listing of scheduled events may be found here.

If you are unable to attend any meetings, but you'd still like to participate in the planning process, you can visit the Imagine Huntsville website. The site has a feature that allows residents to submit ideas online. You can also rate other users' ideas.
