Natal, Brazil – (WHNT) It did not take long for the United States to notch one on the scoreboard and in the win column during it’s World Cup opener against Ghana. Clint Dempsey scored just 32 seconds into the match, which is officially the 6th fastest goal in World Cup history. John Brooks hammered home the game winner with his head in the 85th minute to give America a valuable 3 points. The one cloud hanging over this game was an injury to forward Jozy Altidore who went down with a hamstring strain early in the first half. Altidore is considered one of the most talented and important players on the US team and will be reevaluated Tuesday in Brazil. America’s next challenge comes Sunday at 5:00 p.m. CT against Portugal.
