MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - Both southbound lanes of Interstate 65 are back open after an 18 wheeler overturned in Morgan County early Tuesday morning.

The wreck happened around 4:15 a.m. at mile marker 331 just south of Priceville.

The 18-wheeler contained 25,000 pounds of office supplies which had to be unloaded by hand.

The top of the 18-wheeler's trailer sustained heavy damage.

While the interstate was closed, drivers heading southbound had to exit at Priceville, then travel on Point Mallard Parkway to Highway 31 down to Hartselle to rejoin Interstate-65.

Again, the interstate is back open now.

“The wreck happened around 4:15 a.m.” Again, I ask, did the driver fall asleep, due to too many hours behind the wheel? Maybe random checks of the drivers log book should be implemented to try and reverse the trend of truck accidents on I-65?
