Man dies in flash floods in Lawrence County, Tenn.

SUMMERTOWN, Tenn. (WTVF) – One person died in heavy rains Thursday morning in Lawrence County, Tennessee.

The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office said the man drove his car off the roadway into the water around 8 a.m. at the intersetion of Denson Road and State Road 240 in Summertown, according to WTVF, the CBS affiliate in Nashville.

The man died at the scene. His name has not been released.

The National Weather Service said four to eight inches fell in some areas of southern middle Tennessee on Thursday morning.

Numerous water rescues and road closures were reported in those areas, WTVF reported.
