HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – In the mood for a sweet treat? Grab your wallet and seek out two local bake sales this weekend.  You’ll help fight pediatric cancer and send a supportive message to families fighting it.

Local teams are making cookies, candied apples, and other goodies for Cookies For Kids’ Cancer, a national initiative to raise money to fight childhood cancer.  Cookies for Kids’ Cancer was founded by a mom inspired by her son’s fight against cancer.

There will be local bake sales on Saturday, May 31 at the two Mellow Mushroom locations in Huntsville.  One is at 470 Providence Main Street and the other is at 2230 Cecil Ashburn Drive.   Both locations are open from 12 to 7 p.m.

The goal of the bake sales is to give inspiration and support for families fighting childhood cancer, and to donate money raised to pediatric cancer research.

There are no set prices for the baked goods — just give what you feel is appropriate.  Last year, Huntsville’s team raised $2,600.  They hope to top that amount this year.  Learn more on the Facebook event listing.
