MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A small sinkhole has closed part of Old Highway 31 while crews work to fix the road.

The sinkhole is on Old Highway 31 between the intersections of Joe Davis Road and Highway 31. Old Highway 31 is closed between those two streets.

The sinkhole appears to be caused from a drainage culvert pipe under the road that has washed away rock from under the road.

Utility workers have to figure out where the power and phone lines are before they start work, which will likely begin on Wednesday.

What is it going to take?

Droughts, and floods, droughts, and floods!

We live in the limestone zone, so, what is it going to take to get ALDOT, and USDOT to get on with addressing the problem? Why wait until X number of deaths, like when waiting on so many deaths, to install a traffic light? Surely, we have a detection device to go over ALL roads, and streets to detect the problems?
