HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Today is a special day to recognize the men and women who've sacrificed for the betterment of the country.

And what better way to say "thank you" to a member of the military than by helping him or her save money.

There are lots of places are offering special deals for members of the military, active and retired.

For Hooters of Huntsville, saying thanks to members of the military is a commitment year after year.

"Small way for us to say thank you to the brave men and women who service our country everyday," said Jennifer Lamar, a manager and bar tender.

The restaurant offers a 10% off discount every day of the week and even 20% off on Tuesdays, with the purchase of a drink and a valid military ID.

Then, on special days like Memorial Day, they sweeten the deal even more.

"Hooters is offering ten free boneless wings or traditional wings to all military veterans and their spouses with a purchase of a drink," said Lamar.

This year is a little different. They're thinking of the spouses of military personnel and offering them the same deal.

"They play a major role in military life in being supportive and everything," said Lamar. "So we wanted to thank them as well."

Red Robin is also hoping to see lots of miltary members on Memorial Day.
They're offering a free $5 appetizer with a $10 purchase on Memorial Day, if you're registered for the Red Robin Loyalty Program.
If you haven't signed up, you can do so using your smartphone while you're there.

At Wendy`s, military members can grab a free waffle cone from noon to 8 pm.
