Job Summary 

Greets the public, patients and families in friendly in professional manner.  Collects all information from patient and family pertaining to registration and appropriate medical insurance and enters patients into the hospital registration system.  Disseminates paperwork appropriately and timely.  Receives incoming telephone calls, answers questions as appropriate, routes to appropriate person or takes detailed message. Schedules patient appointments and accepts payments from patients.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:


High school graduate or GED required.  Some college preferred.


Minimum of two years experience as a billing clerk, office clerk or unit clerk, preferably in a hospital or physician office setting.

Additional Skills/Abilities

Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.  Excellent communication skills necessary.  Must be able to file numerically and alphabetically and have accurate typing/data entry skills. Must be familiar with medical terminology and medical insurance types and coverage.
