FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) - Six months have passed since a Florence man was found shot and killed inside his vehicle near a north Florence neighborhood.
In that time, police have worked countless hours investigating the death, but there is still not a suspect in custody.
Police say the shooting happened here at the intersection of Marion Avenue and Chisholm Road.
On the night of November 10, 2013, investigators say someone approached the vehicle of Eric Watkins and shot through the window multiple times, killing Watkins where he sat.
“Through my career I know that we haven’t had that many murders like this. It’s very odd, and very brutal. This person needs to be off the streets,” stated Sgt. Cliff Billingsley with the Florence Police Department.
Billingsley said numerous persons of interest have been questioned in the homicide so far.
But unlike most death investigations, there is no one talking about this one Billingsley said.
That’s why they are hoping with continued publicity someone will come forward and give them the information they need to solve it.
“The family deserves closure, and they deserve justice as well and we want to give that to them,” explained Billingsley.
And Billingsley added they will follow up on any information that comes in, no matter how small it may be.
Cash rewards are being offered in this case through the Shoals Area Crime Stoppers and Florence Police Department.
