MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. (WHNT) – When you ask your parents where you were born, you don’t expect the answer to be a car.

That’s isn’t the case for a Shoals family.

“It was delivered in the car. On the south bound lane of Wilsom Dam Road,” said Muscle Shoals Assistant Fire Chief Shawn Malone.

Malone and Muscle Shoals Fire Captain Keith McHargue can attest that Sunday morning was anything but normal.

They received a call of child birth in process and were heading to the scene when mother nature took over.

“The terminology we use in our field is she was crowning. And once she began to push we were both like, ‘Hey, this is fixing to happen,” said McHargue.

Both man took over and put their training to work.

“This was all a group effort. I just happened to be, you know, me and the captain in the car,” said Malone.

“I’ve been doing this 21 years. This was the first time I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of this. I can’t think of anything more positive than to bring a life into the world,” said McHargue.

The mother was taken to Keller hospital. She was discharged and is at home enjoying her new born.
