(WHNT) – A wreck on I-565 near the Greenbrier Road exit slowed traffic to a crawl Monday afternoon.

It happened just after 5:00 p.m. Monday, about a mile before the Greenbrier Road exit on I-565 westbound.

Police say a car was travelling westbound on I-565 approaching Greenbrier Road when it struck the concrete divider in the median and overturned.

The driver and passenger were both transported to Huntsville Hospital. The driver had life-threatening injuries. The passenger’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation.

I don’t understand what happens on this small stretch of road. So many wrecks happen on such a straight path. Makes no sense at all.

If you drive it every day then you understand why this happens. Half the people that drive this stretch of road are clueless.

Texting, talking on the phone….. Anything and everything except for paying attention to what’s going on around them. Speeding to get somewhere, that’s been there for twenty years, before anyone else. When they get into a crash, because there is no such thing as a traffic accident, they wonder who’s fault it is.

There must be SOME WAY to get to 65 South without going past that exit on 565 – I tried for over an hour and gave up – I drove to Athens on 72 then came back south. This is CRAZY! I grew up in Atlanta and thought that was bad –
