FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) - Whether it's music, wildlife or sports the Shoals has something for everyone.

Jim Zelensek has lived in the Shoals for three years.

He claims the new tourism center will help tourists have a better understanding of the area.
"I love it. This building has so much history in it. You know with all the music and displays and everything else. It's just great," said Zelensek.

The new vistor center has been in the works for almost seven years. The two million dollar building will provide people with a unique interactive experience.

"This is a facility that we truly want out local residents to use as much as vistors. We want this to be the destination if you have friends and family visitng. To come bring them here, show them what your area is really about. Learn what we have and have a great sense of pride in your community," said Alison Stanfield, director of the Florence-Lauderdale Tourism Center.

Shoals leaders say lodging taxes made opening the center a reality and tourist dollars will keep the center open. The address is 200 Jim Spain Drive, Florence, AL 35630.
