PHIL CAMPBELL, Ala. (WHNT) – A southern Franklin County landmark has been destroyed by fire.

Late Thursday night, fire heavily damaged the Chat-N-Chew restaurant in downtown Phil Campbell.

City officials say the restaurant has been open on Main Street in Phil Campbell for more than fifty years and it’s a sad day for the town.

Five fire departments responded to the restaurant just after 10 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
