DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – Police say they’re confident of developing a suspect in the case of a woman assaulted in Decatur City Cemetery.  The woman told investigators she was walking through the cemetery off 12th Avenue NW shortly before 5pm Tuesday, when a man in an orange t-shirt attacked her. She says she was sexually assaulted and then stabbed in the abdomen.

The unidentified woman, who is from the Huntsville/Madison area, had been on her way to meet a friend at a Hwy 20 convenience store across from the cemetery. She called him for help. He found the victim and brought her back to the store, where he called police.

After being airlifted to Huntsville Hospital, the woman underwent surgery for her injuries. She’s expected to make a full recovery and investigators say they’re confident they’ll be able to learn enough from the victim to solve the case. Captain Vince Baer also says he believes the attack was an isolated incident.

If she was attacked and had a cell phone, why would she call her friend first instead of 911…. There has to be some lies somewhere laying around on this story!! Just don’t add up!!!
