Shooting in Huntsville Sends One Person to the Hospital

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Police are searching for the person responsible for shooting a man in the leg.

Huntsville police responded to a shooting call just before 11:00 p.m. Monday night in the 2200 block of Evans Avenue.

Officers arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound to the leg.

The victim says another man walked up and shot him.

Witnesses say they saw the shooter run away toward Medaris Road.

A Huntsville police canine unit tracked the man a short distance before the sent went cold.

HEMSI transported the victim to Huntsville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police blocked Evans Avenue for several hours during this time.
