LINCOLN COUNTY, Tenn. (WHNT) – Many people are involved in Lincoln County’s recovery effort, helping neighbors who lost homes and belongings in two tornadoes that hit the evening of April 28.

The county has issued information about several important resources, including debris removal, first aid, feeding and shower locations if you need them.

Debris Removal

Trees and brush should be taken to the Fayetteville/Lincoln County Convenience Center at 37 Burklin Street, off the Thornton Taylor Parkway in Fayetteville. You’ll have to cross the scales, but you won’t be charged for trees and brush. If you don’t have Lincoln County tags on your vehicle, please show some form of identification to show you are a Lincoln County resident.

Homes with large amounts of trees and brush are urged to burn on site if at all possible. If trees and brush are piled by the roadway, it will likely remain there for several weeks.

If you have construction and demolition materials (carpet, sheet rock, roofing materials such as shingles, etc.), please take them to the Lincoln County Convenience Center. You will be charged for the disposal of these items, but your insurance should reimburse you. (Please save your receipts.) If you do not have Lincoln County tags on your vehicle, please show ID that you are a Lincoln County resident. No burning of construction and demolition materials on site will be allowed, however it can be buried on the site where the debris fell. Burial site can’t exceed one acre of land.

Construction and demolition materials that are pushed or piled om the side of the roadway will likely remain there for several weeks.
