GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office says a man whose body was found at the Guntersville Dam in April has been identified as a missing boater.

The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences confirms the body was that of Jackie Rowell of Guntersville.  He was reported missing in November 2013 after an extended boat trip.  Search teams found his boat, but he was not on it. They did find a kitten alive inside and returned it to Rowell’s family.

The autopsy report on Rowell is still pending, and no further details have been released.

Rowell’s body was found on the upper side of the dam the morning of April 30.

My prayers are with the Rowell family. Jackie has been a very dear person to my heart. He had been there for me when no one else seemed to care. Jackie I love you and miss you so much

I worked with Jackie for a couple of years and was always impressed with the kindness he showed and his willingness to help. I pray his family will get some closure if this turns out to be him.
