HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The Huntsville police officer shot early Friday morning is at home recovering, according to the department.

Officer Jason Moore was shot while responding to a domestic incident on Stanford Drive.  He was hit with a shotgun blast, and pellets hit his face. Moore had surgery Friday at Huntsville Hospital.

The man accused of shooting Moore, and shooting at other officers was Art Stogner.  Police shot him after entering his home after a two-hour standoff.  He died on the scene.

Several rounds were fired during that time, by officers and by Stogner.

Huntsville Police say an Incident Review Board is looking into the shooting.

I wish Officer Moore the best! A police officer’s job is scary. At any time an officer can be in seriously dangerously situations. Best of luck and thank you for being there for the people who needed you. That situation was one of the worst!!!
