(WHNT) - It's the first day of spring and we would all love to put those cold days behind us! But before spring is fully sprung, there are a couple of things you need to do to prepare your garden.

George Bennett with Bennett Nursery says the abnormally cold weather has damaged some plants.

To check and see if a plant you care for is dead, take a knife and scrape it along the bark or stem. If it is still green underneath, the plant will survive. If not, it may be time to visit Bennett Nursery to replace the plant.
