HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Court documents reveal more information about the cause of death of Colleen Nanette Penton, of Huntsville, who Huntsville police say was murdered on March 10.

Investigators with the Huntsville Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit have arrested Robin Wayne Penton, 53, of Huntsville and charged him with Murder-Domestic Violence.

Court documents reveal that investigators believe Robin Wayne Penton shot Colleen Nanette Penton with a .22 caliber rifle then stomped her head.

Police rushed to the Penton home, located on Thornmor Drive in the English Village community, to conduct a welfare check resulting from a threat of a murder/suicide on March 10. After a standoff, police found Colleen Penton’s body inside the home. Robin Wayne Penton was found unconscious inside the home, also. He was rushed to Huntsville Hospital.
