HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Happy Pi Day! Did you bring a sweet treat to your office to celebrate, or bake something for your child's class?

(I have to be honest - I never heard of Pi Day until I moved to Huntsville.)

March 14 is the day math lovers observe the mathematical constant, Pi, derived from the first three digits, 3.14.

The first time a day was dedicated to Pi was back in 1989, but now the national celebration is used to spark interest in math and science projects.

The irrational number represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter.
