HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Columbia High School is dismissing early today due to a problem with a sprinkler head in one of the classrooms.

Keith Ward, spokesperson for Huntsville City Schools, says a sprinkler head burst due to a minor electrical issue.

The decision was made at approximately 12:30 p.m. to close school for the day.  The school system sent out an automated phone call to parents, and buses will take students home as usual.

Students who don’t have a way to get home can stay in the gym until parents can pick them up, Ward said.
