HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A Decatur man is in the Madison County Metro Jail charged with manslaughter.  His arrest follows a deadly wreck that happened in November of 2012.

Police say Willie Curtis McCord was arrested after a grand jury indicted him in the death of 58-year-old Stanley Garner. The wreck happened November 10, 2012 at the intersection of Highway 53 and Stringfield Road.

Police say McCord was driving a blue 2001 Dodge Ram that hit Garner’s Harley Davidson motorcycle. Garner died at the scene.

Garner lived in Harvest.

He was under the influence. So glad they finally caught the guy. Now my family can have some peace. Stanley Garner was my great uncle.

He passed the sobriety test the officer gave him & he then passed the sobriety test they gave him at the hospital,

I would like to know how his blood test showed he was 3 times the legal limit if he was sober. Who says he passed the sobriety test? Were you there? I know you maybe family, but at least you can still talk to him and didn’t have to see your family member laying on a slab. I would like for Willie to see the pics of what drunk driving causes maybe it will save another family from being put through what our family has went through.

Just because he’s a seasoned drunk who can pass a sobriety test doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that his blood alcohol level was 3 times the legal limit… .19-.24 causes blood alcohol poisoning he was well within that bracket. His stupid mistake has caused so much pain to our family. Shame on you for defending his actions. Judge with righteous judgment as my dad would say.

Sorry for the lose of your Dad and Uncle. I’m not defending
Mr. McCorrd because driving drunk is illegal, but he is
A nice respectable Christian man. We all make mistakes in life
And unfortunately his mistake caused a man his life. Trust me
He deals with this everyday as well. Again to the Garner family
My condolences and may you find peace in your hearts.
