FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) - Investigators with the Lauderdale County District Attorney's office arrested a Florence woman accused of stealing more than $1,000 from a disabled man. Authorities charged Sharon Renee Chrisman with exploitation of a protected person. Investigators say Chrisman befriended a disabled man and stole money from his bank account for a month.

They say she would drive the man to the bank and make him take money out of his account. Investigators also believe Chrisman created a scheme to have the man cash stolen checks.

The man's caregiver noticed the bank account didn't balance out correctly and notified Florence Police.

Investigators arrested Chrisman and took her to the Lauderdale County Detention Center. She was released on bond. Authorities say Chrisman's case will be presented to a grand jury.
