FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) – The investigation into an overnight shooting continues to unfold in Florence where a suspect is still at large.

Investigators said a 28-year-old man was shot while standing outside the front of his Huntsville Road home just before 2am.

“We would think that he was targeted, that’s just an assumption by our part,” stated Sgt. Cliff Billingsley. “But, at this time we don’t have anything to believe otherwise.”

According to Billingsley, the suspect pulled up in front of the home and fired a gun several times towards the victim.

Investigators are looking for a black Chevrolet Impala or Malibu with silver trim around the windows that was seen leaving the area.

“This person is very dangerous and if he’s there spraying bullets around, especially in a congested area such as Huntsville Road, he’s very dangerous to the public as well,” explained Billingsley.

Family members of the victim said he was transported to ECM Hospital where he was treated for a gunshot to the stomach and released.

Florence Police ask anyone who may have information about the shooting to call the Shoals Area Crime Stoppers tip line at 256-386-8685.

The call will remain anonymous and could be worth a cash reward.
