Jackson Co. Man Arrested On Two Counts Of Attempted Murder

JACKSON CO., Ala. (WHNT) — A Jackson County man is facing three charges including attempted murder.
Jackson County Deputies say they responded to a shooting on County Road 96 in Stevenson Saturday morning.
They say when deputies and Stevenson Police arrived on the scene they found a 31-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound in his shoulder.
Another woman on the scene told deputies she was shot at, but wasn’t hit.
The man was taken to Highlands Medical Center. Deputies say he is expected to be okay.
The couple’s information hasn’t been released.
Deputies say they found two weapons near the area.
Saturday afternoon deputies say their investigation led them to name 47-year-old Benny Joe Owens as a suspect in the shooting.
Deputies say they found Owens inside a camper trailer in Stevenson.
Deputies arrested Owens and charged him with two counts of  attempted murder and one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied building.
Owens is being held in the Jackson County Jail. His bond has not been set.
