JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Alabama State Senator Shadrack McGill (R) announced Friday he will run for the office of Jackson County Revenue Commissioner.

The Jackson County Republican Party confirmed to WHNT News 19’s Carson Clark that McGill qualified for the election.

McGill announced he will not seek re-election for his State Senate seat in order to be closer to his family.  His seat covers parts of DeKalb, Jackson and Madison Counties.

McGill ran against longtime Democratic incumbent Lowell Barron in 2010 and defeated him.
