MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - Our Tools for Teachers award winner this week is DAR High School teacher Carrie Ann Myers. She received WHNT's customary surprise classroom visit and $319 dollars to spend as she sees fit.

It was actually three students who each sent us a nomination form, asking us to say thanks to Ms. Myers on their behalf. One student, Kaleb Gowan, described Ms. Myers' efforts and attitude in his nomination form.

"She strives everyday to do the best and to pass on her knowledge to every student that steps a foot in her classroom," Kaleb says. "She is an amazing teacher, and every person she encounters has a smile."

Ms. Myers told us she hopes her students are influenced more than just academically during their time in her classroom.

"[I hope they learn] to have more social awareness; that we are all human beings, and that we should all treat each other equally. We should have respect for each other, and every day is a new day," Myers told us.

If you know a worthy teacher, coach, principal, or aide, tell us about them through the Tools for Teachers nomination form.
