FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) - The calls you make to your 911 dispatch center can help keep your community be safe.

The Florence Police Department recently conducted a survey that shows the Florence Police Department responded to 4,092 calls in the month of January. Those calls led up to 244 arrests on 469 criminal charges.

Detective Brad Holmes with the Florence Police Department said the community is the eyes and ears of the police department.

"We can't do our job if the community doesn't support us and doesn't back us up. So that badge means very little if you don't have your community's support," says Holmes.

According to Holmes, about 60 percent of criminal cases in Florence come from information from the community.
