CROSSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)-- Starting Monday night and running through Thursday morning, Union Grove Baptist Church in Crossville will be open as a warming center.

"We have a lot of people in our area that they have been particularly hit hard by the recent unemployment with some of the poultry industry," said pastor Zach Richards.  "So we wanted to make sure that those who have been effected and those who's housing is just not adequate could have a place that they could go and get warm and maybe have a bit to eat."

Richards says it is a blessing for his congregation to be able to help the local community.

"This is an area of ministry that our people really enjoy doing.  They really enjoy reaching out and being the hands and feet of Christ in times when they are needed."

Union Grove Baptist Church is located on Highway 68 at the intersection with Union Grove Road in Crossville.
