HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) —  This cold weather has us all reaching for our warm socks, gloves, and sweaters. Don’t settle for ordinary. There a few items you might be missing in your wardrobe that could really help you out during these frigid times.

Mountain High Outfitters showed us a few pairs of high-tech gloves. “The first ones are going to be the The North Face E-Tip gloves, they’re compatible with smartphones,” said Jonathan Russell.

Special padding on the fingertips allows you to use your phone while keeping your fingers nice and toasty. “They’re just not waterproof so that’s one thing you need to keep in mind.”

Not bad. But Russell didn’t stop there. “These are The North Face E-Tip Facet gloves, so you still have that capability of touching your phone with the inner liner glove but then they give you the shell too so you wear them as a system and then these are waterproof.”

Forget disposable hand warmers. The Zippo Hand Warmer is a hot item this winter. “You fill it with butane fuel and it causes a slow burn, it keeps you warm and it’ll last for hours.”

It’s good for about 80 uses.

“You might want to move it around especially if you want to keep it in an inside jacket pocket or something like that,” said Russell. “Maybe switch it to the other side after an hour or so.”

If you purchase this item, make sure you read the instructions carefully before you use it. “There’s no actual flame, it’s inside and they give you a pouch so you shouldn’t worry about causing any third degree burns or anything like that.”
