LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Athens Utilities says most customers who lost power on Friday morning should have it restored.

The power outage occurred around 7:30 a.m. at the Mount Rozell substation.  Crews had to replace a part to restore service there.

Holly Hollman, Communications Specialist for the City of Athens, said because of the severe cold and demand for power, Athens Utilities brought customers back up gradually to ensure the stability of the system.

Crews are still working to bring a few areas online.

There were also other scattered outages as well in the western part of the county – including Cartwright, West Limestone and Owens.
