LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – The City of Athens says two of its outdoor warning sirens are not working at this time.

One is on Miller Lane, off of Highway 251.  It was damaged by lightning.  A new siren is ordered and should be installed next month.

The other siren is on Miller Road, off of Holt Road.  The siren has mechanical failure. Parts have been ordered and the siren should be repaired by next month.

We are expecting strong storms in the Tennessee Valley on Saturday night, through Sunday morning. Get the latest forecast.

Please do not rely on sirens to sound during severe weather, and don’t rely on them to wake you up in the middle of the night.  Please have multiple ways to get weather information, including a NOAA weather radio with fresh batteries.  WHNT News 19 will also keep you informed.
