Below Freezing Temperatures Lead to Icy Roads

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Authorities are warning drivers to be aware of ice on the roads.

Huntsville police sent out an alert around 4:00 a.m. about ice on elevated portions of Interstate 565 from Memorial Parkway to Oakwood Avenue, as well as both east and westbound on Chapman Mountain.

Madison police also report ice on Eastview Drive between Wall Triana Highway and Hughes Road. That's near Bob Jones High School.

Madison police are also warning drivers about ice on the on and off ramps of Interstate 565 at the Wall Triana exit. Police say public works crews have been notified.

    There is a section of I-565/Hwy 72 westbound just after the crest of Chapman Mountain and right before the Sparkman Drive overpass that is wet and gets icy at below-freezing temperatures. It is hazardous because there will always be some idiot driver jamming on his brakes instead of coasting over the patch. Be very careful there during high traffic and watch out for the other driver!

    i’m surprised they aint advising peopleto stock up on milk and bread ‘n what not!!!! its pretty alright out there ..it aint that bad.
