Grissom’s Football Coach Resigns After Two Seasons

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Dale Overton, head football coach of Grissom High School, says he is resigning.

Overton confirmed to WHNT News 19 he submitted his resignation letter, saying he had other ‘potential opportunities.’

Overton was hired in January 2012 and coached the Grissom Tigers football team for two seasons. In 2012, the team went 3-7.  In 2013, they were 0-10.

Overton said he wished to express gratitude to Tom Drake, the former principal, for hiring him, and to Superintendent Casey Wardynski for bringing him on.  Overton also thanked the current leadership at the school.

Overton’s resignation will go before the Huntsville Board of Education next week.
