REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. (WHNT) - It is perhaps one of the most significant moments in American history.

It was on this day 50 years ago the leader of a nation, the commander in chief of the United States, President John Fitzgerald Kennedy died.

Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated President Kennedy in Dallas on November 22, 1963.

President Kennedy paid his first visit to Marshall Space Flight Center about a year before his fateful trip to Dallas.
