HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Two Huntsville schools and a Madison County school received great news in the past week. They’ve learned they have been designated Blue Ribbon Lighthouse Schools.

Hampton Cove Elementary and Blossomwood Elementary, both in Huntsville, were named Lighthouse Schools, and Madison Cross Roads Elementary in Madison County was also designated a Lighthouse School.

The schools will be honored and receive the official award in a ceremony in Florida in December. This award comes from Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence, a non-profit organization that ranks schools based on nine different categories of achievement.
