HARVEST, Ala. (WHNT) - Starting now, November 18th, and for the next two weeks, photographers in north Alabama say this is time to book a holiday photo session.

It's the prime time to save money and memories.  And it's one of the busiest times for photographers.

WHNT NEWS 19 searched through Facebook and Pinterest, Googled and called around to find the best deals from big-named stores and your next door neighbors who work in photography.

The bottom line is 'tis the season for money-saving discounts'!

Case in point: Forever Sunshine Photography studio in Harvest.

WHNT NEWS 19 asked Felicia Radcliffe: "You are all about saving money, right?"
"Absolutely," she said.

Radcliffe retired from the military and became a self-taught photographer.

She's been shooting for about a year and is one of many local photographers offering holiday specials to help people save money and memories.

"It's $60 and you're going to get your 30-minute session, you're going to get your CD and you're going to get your rights to it and you're going to get 10 5x7 Christmas cards with your envelopes and everything, and you get five templates to choose from," Radcliffe said.

She said finding a good price and a good photographer requires some homework, a lot of which can be done on Facebook.

The things to look for to make sure you're not disappointed are experience, contact numbers and reasonable prices.  For example, if it's a super-low deal, Radcliffe says there may be a reason.

"You sacrifice the quality," she said.

Consumers can find many photographers all over north Alabama through Facebook.

There are 73 members of the North Alabama Professional Photographers site.

People can post a request there or privately message the group with specifics of what they're looking for, who's going to be in the photos, and price range.   Plus, many photographers are offering holiday specials over the next two weeks.

For service members -- active or retired -- it's always worth asking if a photographer offers a military discount, in addition to their holiday deals.

And for consumers who already have the photos, there are great deals in putting together holiday cards using your photos online.  Companies are offering cards for as low as 40 cents each, and up to 30% off sets of 25 to 50 cards.

Also, look out for special sessions with Santa around north Alabama.

Capture Life Photography will have one on December 7th in Madison.  Reservations are required.  The special deal includes a private 15 min. session, 1 8x10,  2 5x7, 8 wallets same pose with Santa.  No per person Fees.  Additional Prints/Packages will be available for order, as well as personalized holiday cards.
