State Trooper Injured In Wreck Near Decatur

DECATUR, Ala (WHNT)- An Alabama State Trooper is now in the hospital after a pickup truck crashed into his patrol car near Decatur.

Officials at the scene say the accident happened around 1:15 Sunday afternoon. They say the trooper was working a single vehicle accident on the I-65 overpass when a pickup truck lost control and slammed into the back of the patrol car.

The trooper was inside his car at the time. He was taken to Huntsville Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. His family has been notified.

The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.

Alabama State Troopers out of Decatur will continue to investigate the crash.
