ARAB, Ala. (WHNT)--  What better day to open a new veterans museum than on Veterans Day?   That's exactly what happened in Arab Monday with the Cost of Freedom Museum.

"It represents our country," said museum president Gene Bishop.  "And the blood that's been spilled for the freedoms that we have."

The new museum is located on Main Street in Arab in the old Arabian movie theater.  There are displays for many of the wars in America's history.   Most of it from Bishop's own collection.

"Just been a passion of mine for several years.   I've just been collecting for about 30 something years.  And the wife said, you need to do something with it."

There is also a display of female uniforms donated by Gayle Morgan.

"When Gene was telling me about doing the museum, I was more than glad to donate my uniforms to him.  So that everybody could see what the females , the part that they played."

The museum will be open Thursday-Sunday.   It will also be open by appointment.
