HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Senior nursing students at UAH started their Thursday tending to a simulated disaster.

The scenario was an EF-5 tornado slamming into a building on campus.

Organizers of the exercise recruited UAH Theatre students and local high school students to play the roles of victims.

Nursing students were observed for how they handled assessing, treating and stabilizing victims.

It was an exercise that the students didn't get during their two years of coursework and clinicals.

Organizers tried to make the drill as real as possible to allow nursing students to test out their learned skills in a chaotic situation.
