Madison Co. Judge Grants Stay for Scarano in Civil Case
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – There is a new development in the civil lawsuit involving a Huntsville teen who police say caused two wrecks earlier this year.
Our news partner The Huntsville Times/al.com reports a Madison County judge granted a 90-day stay for Gunner Scarano on Monday. However, that doesn’t apply to his father, Richard, who is also named in the lawsuit.
Scarano’s attorneys asked for the stay pending the outcome of a criminal investigation.
Scarano is accused of causing two crashes in south Huntsville in May 2013. Jaden Coppens, 10, died in one of the wrecks at the intersection of Bailey Cove and Weatherly roads.
Amy Creech and her daughter filed the lawsuit. Investigators say they were in one of the vehicles hit during the crash.
