Trinity, Ala. (WHNT) - East Lawrence Elementary is home to a staff full of exceptional teachers, but this week we are spotlighting Sandi Moreland, a kindergarten teacher whose boundless energy rivals that of her students. She received our 319 dollar Tools for Teachers award to spend in her class as she sees fit.

Ms. Moreland's spirited approach to education is appreciated by parents as well as grandparents. Stephanie Pugh, grandmother to an East Lawrence kindergartner, nominated Ms. Moreland.

"She makes sure that each one of her students understands what they are studying and that they have fun while learning," Pugh told us in her nomination letter.

Ms. Moreland says high energy is a requirement to effectively teach students this young.

"I have to stay energized and engaged. We just do all kinds of things with them. We do hands on activities, and that's where they pick up the most information," Moreland says.

If you know a worthy teacher, coach, principal, or aide, tell us about them through the Tools for Teachers nomination form.
