SHEFFIELD, Ala. (WHNT) – Investigators are releasing an artist rendering of the man they believe burst into a Sheffield apartment and sexually attacked a woman.

With the help of witnesses, Sheffield Police said they were able to create a sketch of the man who forced his way into a Colbert Square apartment Tuesday around 7:30 p.m.

According to investigators, after the man raped the female victim he attempted to clean up the crime scene.

Police went on to say the man forced the victim outside her apartment to point out her car in the parking lot, and then proceeded to steal the woman’s car.

Sheffield Police said the victim struck the man in the head with a glass ashtray during the attack, so they believe he may have a cut or scare on his forehead.

Investigators urge anyone with information involving this attack to contact the Shoals Area Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (256) 386-8685.

The call is anonymous and could be worth a cash reward of up to $1,000.
