SHEFFIELD, Ala. (WHNT) - Authorities in Colbert County are spreading the word about a brutal attack that happened Tuesday night.

Sheffield Police say a light-skinned black man forcibly raped a woman at Colbert Square Apartments on 19th Avenue around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

He is believed to be in his 20s and is about 5'10".  He has dark, short wavy hair.  The man also has a cut on his forehead, because the woman told police she hit him with a glass ashtray.   At the time of the crime, he was wearing a white t-shirt and baggy shorts, the victim said.

Police say the man forced his way in to the woman's apartment, after knocking on two other doors.  Police say he struggled with the woman, then raped her.  Police say after the act, the man cleaned the crime scene.

Afterward, he forced the woman to come outside, naked, and point to which car was hers.  Police say the man stole the car, drove it a few blocks and then deserted it.

Police say the woman went to the hospital for treatment.  Physically, she was not seriously hurt, police said.

Police say they are working with the woman to create a sketch of the man.  Once that is ready, we'll share it with you.

If you have any information about the man, please call the Shoals Area CrimeStoppers Tip Line immediately at (256) 386-8685.

I hope that Sheffield police and whatever additional authorities are needed can catch the COWARDLY RAPIST. Sheffield needs a good cleaning to rid the cowardly lazy criminals that don’t want to work and earn an honest living. All these criminals want is a free ride. Someday they will realize nothing is free. They will reap what they sow!
