EVA, Ala. (WHNT) - Our Tools for Teachers award winner this week is Kathy DeFoor, a fifth grade teacher at Eva school. Ms. DeFoor's career path didn't begin in education. She spent a few years in business before the call to teach became too strong to resist. Now, after a master's degree, a national teacher certification, and 16 years in the classroom, Ms. DeFoor's enthusiasm hasn't waned in the slightest.

Eva principal, Patrick Patterson, says DeFoor's passion translates into teaching success and happy kids who are excited about learning.

"Miss Defoor is very committed to her students, she loves her students, she plans rigorous lessons; consequently, her students are very engaged, and they love her inside the classroom and outside the classroom," Mr. Patterson tells us.

If you know a worthy teacher, coach, principal, or aide, tell us about them through the Tools for Teachers nomination form.
