TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WHNT) – Governor Robert Bentley underwent minor hernia repair surgery Tuesday morning, his office said.

The outpatient surgery was performed in Tuscaloosa.  It was done laparoscopically, and doctors say it was successful.

Governor Bentley is recovering in Tuscaloosa and is expected to return to Montgomery in the coming days.  He said he chose to have the repair procedure done now so he could heal before his upcoming economic development trip to Japan.
