HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - The debt ceiling. The October 17 deadline is quickly approaching to raise it or face potential economic disaster, as many experts have warned.
Do the people in Congress understand how serious this is, WHNT News 19 asked Griffith?
"Most of them do, but you've still got some people who are in denial," said Griffith.
"We're sending people there that don't get it. They don't want to get it. They don't realize that the American economy, and the full faith and credit of the American government, has everything to do with interest rates, it's got everything to do with Social Security checks, Medicare reimbursement to hospitals. They don't get it. They don't want to get it."
"They're fanatical in their denial," Griffith added.
