Judge Denies Bond For Woman Accused of Stealing From Fire Dept.
FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) – A woman accused of embezzling thousands of dollars from the Cloverdale Volunteer Fire Department appeared in court in Lauderdale County on Thursday morning.
Shirley Weeks, 52, filed a motion on her own behalf asking Judge Gil Self for a bond reduction.
Weeks has been in jail since her arrest on theft of property charges, and asked the judge to reduce her bond from the current $10,000. Judge Self denied the request.
According to court records, Weeks pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges in September, and was sentenced to six months in prison.
A trial date on her theft charge is tentatively set for later this month.
