Driver Rescued After Car Plunges Into Creek

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - A driver was taken to Huntsville Hospital by MedFlight after the car he was driving ended up in a creek.

It happened around 3:00 a.m. on Highway 31 near Pryor Field Regional Airport.

Authorities say a witness saw a driver going south on Highway 31 in Limestone County.

The witness says the driver crossed the median, went down an embankment and into a creek.

Authorities say the vehicle plunged about 150 yards off the road before coming to a stop in about a foot-and-a-half of water.

The Tanner Volunteer Fire Department and Athens firefighters responded.

It took crews about 20 minutes to free the driver from the vehicle.

The driver was taken by MedFlight to Huntsville Hospital.

His condition is not known.
